Pasquotank 4-H’ers received honors during the recent State 4-H Congress. This year’s 4-H Congress, held in Raleigh July 16-19, attracted more than 540 young people and their adult leaders for activities including presentations on a variety of subjects, leadership and citizenship training, service opportunities, officer elections and more. This year Pasquotank had 9 participants during the week long event. They were:  Avery Otts, Lillie Bailey, Wil Haines, Kaitlyn Broome, Lance Sharber, Jessica Hoffman, Madisyn Boyce, Lauren Winslow, and Victoria Robey.

Lillie Bailey, 9, daughter of Kevin and Lisa Bailey of Newland, Avery Otts, 10, daughter of David and Leslie Otts of Weeksville, Wil Haines, 13, son of Ben and Rachel Haines of Newland, and Victoria Robey, 17, daughter of Welsey and Lisa Robey of Kitty Hawk all won gold medals in public speaking contests designed to test 4-H’ers’ knowledge and skills in public speaking on a variety of topics. Lance Sharber 17, son of Larry and Cindy Sharber of Newland and Lauren Winslow 15, daughter of Shelia Winslow of Elizabeth City won Bronze medals in their public speaking categories.
