Food Preservation Series: Canning 101

Summer is a great time to learn or hone food preservation skills while so many wonderful fruits and vegetables are plentiful. Food preservation is a great way to not only save money but to enjoy the tastes of fresh produce throughout the fall and winter months. The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Pasquotank County Center is hosting a Canning 101 series beginning June 25, 2019. Classes include hands-on instruction on:

  • Canning pickles (June 25)
  • Peach preserves (July 16)
  • Green beans (August 6)
  • Apple pie filling (September 3), and
  • Making homemade pie crusts (September 17)

All classes will be held on Tuesday nights from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Pasquotank County Center, located at 1209 McPherson Street, Elizabeth City. Cost for the entire series is $10. Registration is complete upon receipt of payment. To register or for additional information, please contact the office, 338-3954.
