Grace Atkins will be hosting a summer gardening lecture series on Thursdays starting July 8 for 4 weeks. This series will be free and open to the public. You must pre-register on Eventbrite at the following link:

Summer Gardening Lecture Series Tickets

You may attend one or all four of the classes.

Summer Gardening Intro: Why and How to Garden – July 8, 2021, 2 to 4 p.m.

This will serve as the introductory course to the summer lecture series on gardening. This class will focus on establishing a garden and why to do so. We will touch on making gardening affordable and health benefits of gardening.

Indoor and Container Gardening – July 15, 2021, 2 to 4 p.m.

In this class, we will discuss alternate forms of gardening. We will focus on being able to garden with limited space or mobility. This will include vegetable, herb, and ornamental gardening in containers. (Pots, raised beds, and recycled containers)

Pruning and Maintenance of Garden – July 22, 2021, 2 to 4 p.m.

This class will focus on how to prune landscapes, and maintain vegetable, and perennial gardens, landscape shrubs, and turf. We will discuss fertilizing, aeration, mowing, soil testing, division and propagation of plants, mulching, and designing or changing an existing landscape.

Trouble Shooting your Garden Issues – July 29, 2021, 2 to 4 p.m.

We will finish off the series with a class on troubleshooting gardening issues. This will include issues with insects, disease, and nutrient deficiencies. We will discuss common issues found in vegetable and ornamental gardens.
