Extension agents of the NC State University Extension use multiple means of getting much needed information to the people they serve. One of those is meetings. The Pasquotank Extension Service in the area of field crops, has put together a slate of meetings to address critical issues for the growers in the county. Some of these meetings are production meetings related to specific commodities, or specific management practices such as fertility, pest management as well as required training to use certain herbicides (dicamba and paraquat). Other meetings provide training for private (farmer) pesticide applicators scheduled for renewal in 2023.  There are two offerings that are designed for growers to get answers to specific questions via consultations with specialists about their soil test reports, animal waste reports and nematode reports or related topics. For those farming operations that must be Worker Protection Standard compliant, there is a training for farmworkers that are handlers and workers. Also, there is the 2023 NE Ag Expo Small Grain Field Day on February 15, 2023 in Pasquotank County.  Many of the meetings also provide X category  recertification credits for people with a NC private (farmer) pesticide license and/or NC commercial pesticide applicator/dealer license (check for commercial categories that credits are provided). Some of the meetings provide a sponsored meal. There are a few meetings for individual consultations with specialists (soil, nematode, and waste sample reports) via Zoom so use the following link to see all of the Pasquotank producer winter meetings:   2023 Pasquotank Producer Meeting List.   For those that require registration by EventBrite (which are most of the meetings). With your calendar in hand mark those programs that meet your needs.
